Main Street Youth Theatre Summer Camps

Show Camp!

 July 13th -17th and July 20th -24th

9:00am to 12:00pm

Show Camp gives kids the chance to participate in the audition, rehearsal and performance of a theatrical show. Main Street Youth Theatre's Artistic Director, Jodi Layman will instruct students on all aspects of being a cast member including blocking, choreography and music. This camps which runs over the span of 2 weeks will culminate with a live performance of a Kids Disney Collection show. Upon completion of camp, participants will be prepared to step foot on the big stage!

Dance Camp!

 July 13th -17th

1:00pm to 4:00pm

($210)

This advanced dance camp will cover many different types of dance including jazz, urban funk tap, hip hop and more. It is designed for experienced dances and will involve instruction from multiple dance teachers.

Characterization!

 July 20th -21st

1:00pm to 3:00pm

($75)

Characterization camp will provide students with an in-depth break down of character study. Participants will learn how to make a character real and not simply a stereotypical cartoon version. It is designed for older children and is lead by acting instructor Cathy Evangelista.

Acting for the Camera!

 July 22nd -24th

1:00pm to 3:00pm

 ($100)

Acting for the Camera camp focuses on commercial, television and film scripts. Students will learn how to minimize scripts without losing effect and meaning. Participants will be videotaped and given immediate feedback from acting instructor Cathy Evangelista.

Guitar Ensemble Workshop!  

 July 27th- 29th

11:00am - 1:00pm

 Several guitars together, all playing different parts, make for great sounding music and lots of fun.  No reading music necessary -it's all TAB and chord charts.  A year's experience on the guitar is recommended.  The workshop will kick off the MAIN STREET GUITAR ENSEMBLE, a new performing group. 

The instructor is David Kimbell.  David has appeared in some 100 shows, most recently onstage as lead guitarist in "The Buddy Holly Story".  He directed the music for "Fame" and "Annie" at the Main Street Youth Theatre, has directed many student ensembles, and taught hundreds of students in school programs and at his home studio.  He has made several TV appearances and is in the movie "Betsy's Wedding."
